The Deceitful Drogon or Books We Probably Should Have Banned Ourselves From Writing
There comes a time in every writer’s life when they look back at the progress they’ve made, half-finished vampire epics with pretentious footnotes, old journals with dragons all over them, the handwritten notes (with Lisa Frank stickers in the margins) and think, my god, what a pile of crap!
The always charming Rejectionist has invited the author-friends to post their early (and extremely humiliating) works as part of the Banned Book Week festivities.
I have two extremely awful, please-don’t-really-read-these-because-they’re-quite-embarrassing, pieces to share. In the interest of historical accuracy all spelling and translation mistakes have been preserved, with bold emphasis added to the best bits.

A Gift
Sunset, the time when all the night creatures come out and play.
This week we have sharp teeth, willing blood donors and a gift that works a little too well.

An Uncertain Meeting
This weeks story is a continuation from last week. This time we see Lily's club (where I imagine she has at least one of these pink chandeliers) and meet a zombie.
Brains, bouncers and unions ahead.

A Good Wallow
A vampire story at dusk! Could it be that I've finally matched a picture to a story? The story does take place at night and they are in a city. I call it close enough.
This story has vampires and werewolves and is a little jaunt for some characters I've been batting around for something more novel length. The second short with this group will go up next week. That one has the zombies.
Melodramatic vampires and heavy drinking ahead.

The Game
I've resisted the urge to write a Christmas story. It wasn't easy. I managed to omit all the trees and lights but this week's story does have some family themes. Games, drinking, obligations, blood.
Well, it is a family of vampires.

A Family Affair
I wrote this one on Halloween.
Of course that means vampires and some blood.
And a Buffy reference. It's an obscure one. The first person to figure it out and send me an email with the right answer gets to pick the topic for my next story.
Good luck!
