Wine and Company

shake and swirl, originally uploaded by Jenn Platt.
This picture has nothing to do with anything.

I was walking up Third Avenue, on a mission to buy buttons, and I came across a parade. A sequin covered, but apparently un-themed parade that had these folks with the scorpions on their chests proceeded by what looked like a martial arts troupe doing synchronized forms.

I couldn't resist posting it because of the guy behind the girls. I've never seen someone so happy to blow his whistle.

On to the story.

It's a little romp for an alien character of mine. I never describe him directly, but I'll give you a hint. He's got three legs, three eyes, three tentacles and an attitude. Sort of like the charming offspring of a squid and a spider.

The Jade Dragon

In Honor of The Steampunk World's Fair I'm reposting my steampunk story.

Cogs, goggles, corsets, metal teeth and superheroes!

Well, I'm not sure superheroes are steampunk, but the mechanical suits definitely are.

Rhythm

fallout, originally uploaded by Jenn Platt.
This week's photo is of one of my favorite signs. Signs like this one were on half the buildings in my old neighborhood. Walking to the subway I would imagine what the area would be like after the end of the world. Which led to some strange ideas about fighting with giant roaches for food and befriending mutated black squirrels from the park.

This week's story was inspired by the same neighborhood, but without the radiation.

Fire, blood and imagination ahead.

Last Request

kimono walk, originally uploaded by Jenn Platt.
This week's story has to do with a bad dress and a promise.

Nothing at all to do with kimonos. Though I think my character would get more looks on the street than the girls in the picture.
